Marc Warren

If Marc Warren emerged in 2006 then he really made his mark on the world stage in 2007 when he and Colin Montgomerie teamed up to win the Omega World Cup for Scotland for the first time in the 55 year history of the event.

Almost four years after he sank the winning putt in the Walker Cup, the young Scot became a winner in his own right when he beat Sweden's Robert Karlsson in a play-off to take the 2006 Scandinavian Open, his first title on the Main Tour.

That performance played a major part in Marc being awarded the Sir Henry Cotton 'Rookie of the Year' title for 2006.

It marked another reason to celebrate having a year earlier guaranteed his place on the Tour when he became the PGA European Tour Challenge Tour No.1.

Second place in the final event of the season – the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final - gave the 24-year-old the overall title.

A year on from his maiden victory on the European Tour, Marc became a multiple winner in September 2007 when he took the Johnnie Walker Championship, again clinching the title in a play-off.

And to top off a fantastic year, he partnered Colin Montgomerie to the Omega World Cup at Mission Hills in China, the Scots pairing beating the USA in yet another play-off.

Marc started playing golf at the age of 13 at East Kilbride golf club, where he gained his first handicap of 13, but he quickly reduced that to scratch by the age of 15.

Playing full time amateur golf since he was 16, it has always been Marc's intention to play professional golf at the highest level, after gaining the competitive experience of playing in the amateur ranks. His was rewarded for his outstanding play by being selected for the winning GB&I Walker Cup Team in 2001 where he holed the winning putt.

Marc missed his European tour card at the end of 2003, but showed that he still has what it takes to be a winner after collecting the Ireland Ryder Cup and Rolex Trophy Challenge Tour events in the space of three weeks during 2005 on his way to capturing the Challenge Tour Order of Merit title
